Prayer
Now
“Lord, teach us to pray.”
Luke 11:1
Starts Wednesday, Sept 16, 2026
Weekly 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the church
Season 9–10 gatherings this fall
Why this group exists

Prayer that is practiced, not just discussed.

Real Prayer Now is a table for believers who already know Jesus and want their prayer life to grow teeth — more honest, more biblical, more regular, and more ready to help someone else pray.

We will walk the Lord’s Prayer with The Prayer Course from 24-7 Prayer, keep Pete Greig’s book in our hands, and then get out of our chairs and actually pray — silently, out loud, and, as the Lord leads, out in the community.

Created to enhance everyone’s prayer walk.

Growing in prayer

Mature Christians who love the Lord and want focused spiritual growth specifically in prayer — not a beginner class, but a place to learn by doing.

Guiding in prayer

Believers with more prayer experience who want to re-affirm and deepen their own life with God while helping the less confident find their voice.

Our Group’s Mission

In the same spirit as DiscoverLife’s purpose and promise — Real. Love. Now. — this group exists so prayer becomes real, practiced now, and offered in love for the church and the Chipley community.

01

Learn the way Jesus taught

Move through the Lord’s Prayer session by session so our vocabulary and instincts for prayer are shaped by Scripture, not by habit or panic.

02

Practice until it is natural

Every evening includes P.R.A.Y. modeling, silent prayer, spoken prayer around the circle, and time to write prayers we can actually use.

03

Carry prayer beyond the room

Grow confident enough to pray with one another, for the church, and — as outings come together — in the community around us.

A Wednesday evening

What a night looks like.

We meet at DiscoverLife, 3493 Washington Street. Last Wednesday of each month is church family night, so the group stands down that week.

  1. 1

    Snacks and social time

Come early, grab something to eat, and settle in. Prayer grows best among friends.

  2. 2

    Opening prayer

We begin by asking the Lord the same request the disciples asked: teach us to pray.

  3. 3

    Video lesson

A session from The Prayer Course, with one evening given to The Seven Levels of Prayer.

  4. 4

    Round-table discussion

Honest talk about the week’s theme — what caught us, what we resist, what Scripture requires.

  5. 5

    Learn and memorize Scripture

Learn and memorize prayer-related Bible verses to strengthen your prayer life — and to share God’s Word in everyday conversation and when you pray with others.

  6. 6

    P.R.A.Y. modeling and practice

Silent prayer, then spoken prayer around the group. No one is put on the spot. Everyone is invited.

  7. 7

    Create prayers

Leave with words you can keep using at home, at work, and for people you love.

Outreach outings — prayer in the community — are planned as the group finds its footing. Details to come.

What we will use

Approved tools. Open Bibles. Shared practice.

Materials come from our church’s RightNow Media list and from 24-7 Prayer. A copy of the companion book will be provided.

The Prayer Course — an eight week journey through the Lord’s Prayer
