Fall 2026

Proposed syllabus

Ten Wednesday evenings. Eight sessions of The Prayer Course. One evening on The Seven Levels of Prayer. One evening to practice, write prayers, and look toward outreach. Last Wednesdays are church family night — we do not meet.

The spine of the course

An eight-week journey through the Lord’s Prayer.

Videos and discussion guides from prayercourse.org. Companion reading from Pete Greig’s How to Pray. Leader notes from the official Prayer Course Leader’s Guide.

Week 1
Why Pray?
“Lord, teach us to pray.” — Luke 11:1

Welcome, charter, and the first Prayer Course session. Why prayer matters, and a first walk through P.R.A.Y.

Week 2
Adoration
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”

Learning to enjoy God’s presence in praise — worship that is more than a warm-up for asking.

Off
Church family night

No Life Group. Join the whole church gathering.

Week 3
Petition
“Give us this day our daily bread.”

The dignity of asking. Bringing our own real needs to the Father without apology or superstition.

Week 4
Intercession
“Your kingdom come.”

Praying on behalf of others — family, church, Chipley, and the people whose names we write down.

Week 5
Unanswered prayer
“Your will be done.”

Honest conversation about delay, silence, and disappointment — and how to keep praying anyway.

Off
Church family night

No Life Group.

Week 6
Contemplation
“On earth as it is in heaven.”

Silence as a way of being with God. Practice that goes beyond words.

Week 7
Listening
Tuning our ear to the Father.

Practical ways to hear God’s voice in Scripture, in the gathered church, and in the quiet.

Week 8
Spiritual warfare
“Deliver us from evil.”

Praying God’s kingdom into the real battle — with Scripture, humility, and endurance.

Off
Church family night

No Life Group. Thanksgiving week.

Week 9
The Seven Levels of Prayer
Growing past the first habits of prayer.

Watch and discuss the God Built teaching together. Ask where we have settled — and where the Lord is inviting us further.

Week 10
Practice, written prayers, next steps
“Amen.”

Create prayers to keep. Consider a community prayer outing. Decide how this table continues after the course.
